We are pleased to share that Prof. Young-Gwan Choi's team has been selected for the 2026 Mega-Region Demand-Driven Joint R&D Program (Preliminary FOCUS), organized by the Enterprise-Support R&D Center of the University of Ulsan RISE initiative. The project — "Development of an AI-Based Electromagnetic Line-Scan System for In-Line Detection of Internal Defects in Copper and Alloy Slabs" — will build a non-destructive, in-line inspection system that combines electromagnetic sensing with machine-learning analysis to detect internal defects, such as voids, inside copper and alloy slabs during production. Supported with KRW 200 million, the project team brings together Prof. Young-Gwan Choi and Prof. Sanghoon Kim (School of Materials Science & Semiconductor Engineering, University of Ulsan), Prof. Dae-Yeol Kim (School of ICT Convergence, University of Ulsan), and Dr. Seok-Hwan Yoon (Advanced Quantum Materials Laboratory, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, KAERI). Together, the project extends our quantum- and electromagnetic-sensing expertise toward real-world industrial inspection.
